This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

When you enter the door to our kindergarten class, you will see twenty boys and girls playing and working with manipulatives ranging from counting counters, letter blocks, a magnifying glass, etc. Though my students come from different backgrounds and nationalities, they all learn through play and hands-on experiences. Many of them speak Spanish as a first language.

They yearn to connect and learn from one another.

My students come to kindergarten with a range of prior knowledge; however, I differentiate instruction to cater to all their needs. They are full of energy, and they learn best from moving and acting out.

My Project

STEAM is an educational approach of learning that incorporates Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math. We are beginning our STEAM curriculum where students are able to inquire, take risks and persist in problem solving through project based activities. During our sounds theme, we will create instruments with household items with no teacher instruction, we will also go through the scientific method when experimenting with sounds. STEAM related careers are in such high demand, so lets help create a strong and able work force by teaching STEAM! This approach of learning allows students to learn things in a more open ended way and make them applicable to real life.

STEM activities will bring benefits to all my students, at all levels of ability, creating an inclusive and effective educational opportunity.

The requested supplies will give us the tools needed to create a successful STEAM classroom. The paintbrushes will allow us to incorporate painting within our Arts portion of STEAM. The STEAM kits will give us the necessary items for the engineering portion.
