My Project
My students get to expand their creative thinking and learn how to view problems with creative solutions in mind. Due to funding cuts over the last year and a half, arts have taken a hit.
However, art is so important to successful learning and academic progression.
Every student deserves the chance to express themselves creatively. Art within school aids in the process of student growth and development socially, emotionally, and academically.
I plan to facilitate that growth and development by introducing my students to a broad spectrum of art mediums such as drawing, watercolors, acrylics, printmaking, ceramics, and many more to give them a very sturdy base to lift off from. I want my students to learn that art and creativity can take many forms. Many mediums, such as pencil, Sharpie, paint of all forms, ceramics, and printmaking, require a wide range of supplies, all of which are included in my list, and all of which will be greatly utilized.
I want them to be able to document their growth in their own personal sketchbooks, as well as have a place to plan for their projects and have a sense of responsibility and individuality.
One specific medium my students have expressed a high interest in is ceramics. Our school is extremely fortunate to have a kiln for the students’ use, and I know the students are very excited for those projects. However, my classroom does not currently have an adequate supply of ceramic glazed for the students to be able to complete their projects from start to finish. I’d love for all my students to be able to have the experience of ceramic sculpting.
All students should have access to numerous materials for creative exploration, and in my class, that is going to happe.
