I have 25 diverse students from New York City.
I have many students who are just learning English from various backgrounds. They are extremely bright, energetic, and love everything about the school experience. They love singing, dancing, acting out curriculum, drawing and painting. Our school is a choice school, and we follow the Schoolwide Enrichment Model, to promote individual thinking and interest based learning. My students love expressing themselves through art and interest based projects. We do a lot of small group work, and research projects. These materials will really help them create exciting group projects that they can be proud of.
My Project
These creative materials will change my students' lives because they will become truly invested in their learning by taking ownership of their work. I believe that learning through creating is the best way to fully master the concepts taught in all subject areas. My students will use the art materials and writing papers during learning centers where they will learn through inquiry and investigation. They will be acting out using puppets that they make, painting the characters in their books, creating butterflies from their science unit, writing and illustrating stories about their families for social studies, as well as learning everything we can about art. We can't wait to have fun being creative!
As an accomplished artist, I know that bringing my passion into the classroom will really help my students to learn and discover their own passions.
This will instill in them a love of learning and school which is vital for creating students of the future!
