My Students

I teach at a Title I school where all students qualify to receive free breakfast and lunch through the National School Lunch Program. Students in my school come from various economic backgrounds and family dynamics. A large number of students walk to school from a public housing project. Most are from single-parent homes with several school-age children.

My students include diverse learners, those with special needs, and eager learners, who inspire their social and economic disadvantages, deserve a classroom environment that is welcoming, literacy-rich, bright, and organized.

My Project

Writing is a complement to our spoken, or sometimes the unspoken, language. It is the tool we use to help us feel better about a situation, to let someone know how we feel, or for therapy. It is the written medium in which language and emotion are represented. My students participate in Writing Workshops in our second-grade classroom. Students work hard on their writing. This year, I would like to expand the experience by teaching students how to navigate the world of technology to improve their writing piece.

Students will gain a great sense of pride once they see their creativity in black and white along with some pictures that they have chosen specifically for their writing piece.

A lack of resources should not stop the greatness that my students possess! Students will type their writing pieces on the computer and print it using our new printer. They will use the laminating sheets to ensure that their writing pieces can be safely displayed.
