This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students in the South Bronx are passionate and creative! We perform a Shakespeare play every year that they are interested in filming and editing into a movie. Other students are writing their own plays or educational skits that they want to film to share with others. And still others are hard at work on writing their own graphic novels.
However, we need laptops to do this!
Students have Chromebooks for classroom use, but they do not support any additional software, nor do we have a computer lab. We need to be able to add software and programs for students to edit, create, and share their amazing work. With these simple laptops they can turn their learning into new projects and find ways to share those projects with others. We will be promoting collaboration and student agency as my students gain new technological skills for the 21st century.
