My students need watercolors, paint trays, dot painters, colored ink pads and watercolor paper to create works of art that will help them express their feelings and expand their creativity.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I team teach 48 energetic kindergarten and first grade students at an urban Title I school located in Los Angeles. Our school serves many students, pre-school to 5th grade, that are living in a low income and high poverty neighborhood. Our students come to school ready and eager to learn everyday. At our school, we have a rigorous academic program where we strive to prepare our students to become productive well-rounded citizens. Our school motto is “Learners today, leaders tomorrow.”
My Project
Our students will use these materials, including watercolor sets and watercolor paper, to create unique works of art. They will be able to have the appropriate materials they need to complete art lessons. They will be able to use their imagination and learn about the elements of art. They will be able to express their ideas and feelings as artists. The students will then be able to discuss their work and appreciate the aesthetic qualities of their art work and that if others. The works of art can then be extended into writing assignments where they can express their work to others. They’ll learn to love art!
