Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I love my students. They are imaginative, inventive and silly. I want to nurture and sustain this creativity as they embark on becoming more independent. I want to offer them coping mechanisms for when life deals out stress and anxiety.

Young people's attention is easily robbed by social media and cellphones.

While sometimes validating, we all know that too much screen time can be detrimental for young people. Using hands to create is a good way of exercising patience muscles and building attention capacity.

I want to start a crochet club in the library for students. Together, with a para educator crochet master, we want to offer students the opportunity to crochet and create cute projects with these crochet kits and hooks.

While taking on a new endeavor in the art of crochet-making, we hope to also create a space for community and laughter.
