Creative, Crafty, Colorful and Cute Collages for Art Class
My students need 3 classroom collage boxes, 8 sets of collage boards, 1 super-safe craft tape center, 2 Lakeshore glitter painters, 3 sets of collage buttons, and 1 people shapes project kit with 1 extra set of people shapes.
"New York Creative Art Class" has the desire to make crafty, colorful collages. I am the Art Special Education Teacher of a title one school beginning a brand new art program following the "Blueprints for the Arts" program. I teach all grades from Pre-K to 5th including classes that are of mixed populations with 60% General Education and 40% Special Education, often referred to as integrated classes. I am starting off with very limited art supplies due to budget cuts and am in need of supplies to make collages.
This art program consists of five strands that tie in the subjects of art history, math, science and language arts. It's based on opening the students minds to culture and community and connecting it to the core subjects. Collage making is one of the areas that students will be doing and is used in all areas of subjects. Math uses collage with all of the shapes, art history follows many famous artists, language arts ties in with literature such as Eric Carle, and science can be used to teach about butterflies and creating them. We are not able to make collages if we don't have the materials or resources to be able to purchase them.
If my students had collage boxes and boards, some super-safe craft tape, some glitter painters and collage buttons, a people shapes project kit with extra people shapes, they would be all set to begin making collages. My students would be making crafty, colorful and creative collages thanks to your help. They would be learning all about the world and their community, and be tying it into all of their subjects at the same time.

More and more schools are understanding how important it is to bring the arts back into the school system, and are doing so. In order to have these programs work and succeed we need the materials.
