Help me give my students paper punches and decorative paper for pop-up books, and roving combs and squeeze bottles for felting and batik crafts we’ll make this spring.
Students in our arts classes will be making pop-up books, felting projects, batik scarves, and paper crafts. Pop-up books have always been a favorite activity in my classroom and students got excited when I mentioned it to them. We need decorative paper to add color and pattern to pop-up book pages. Paper punches will make some great shapes for students to use on their books, as well as other paper crafts done in class. Felting projects are lots of fun for students, especially using roving, which can easily be made from standard yarn. Students comb the yarn to loosen it up to become roving. It’s a fun activity for students to see how the yarn transforms when combed out. Squeeze bottles will be used for an upcoming batik lesson where students make their own bandanas.
In our classes students use their hands to create and connect to humanity’s history of making things.
