FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Poch's classroom raised $471

All six students in my self-contained Special Education class love to learn. They are all joyful, energetic middle school children who live with Autism. I serve these students daily by helping them to learn daily functional skills that will help them to live as independently as possible in their everyday lives.
Students with Autism require kinesthetic, interactive approaches to learn and maintain skills. Our class has begun learning to cook simple recipes in the microwave. My students engage quickly in learning math and science skills when it is embedded into such a highly motivated activity as cooking. And of course they love to eat their individual creations! My students need to understand the use and function of all aspects of a kitchen to fully learn to cook for themselves. Unfortunately, our school lacks the funds to supply classrooms with all the equipment that can help our students learn to function up to their highest potential.
You can help make this type of creative learning possible! My class needs a compact refrigerator, a hot plate, and a convection toaster oven. With this equipment we can learn to cook a wide variety of meals and snacks: ranging from pizza, pancakes, and pudding, to holiday cookies, and pies. Not only will this enable my students to be self-sufficient, but with these new skills, they will have more opportunity to engage in and contribute to their family lives and communities.
Your help will empower my students to live a more full life. I wish I could share with you the simple joy and pride my students receive each time they create something on their own! Please make this opportunity possible, and help my students learn to cook creatively.
