Help me give my students the clay they will need to create characters, sets, and props in their claymations. Your support will help bring their amazing animations to life!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
As the media specialist and the technology coordinator, I teach information literacy and technology skills to over 500 K-8 students.
Our students are eager learners who are capable of engaging in learning on a whole new level if given the chance.
We are a Title I, local community school located on the southwest side of Chicago. 95% of our school population is considered low-income. Most of our students do not have access to the newest and most advanced technology at home, and many can not regularly afford internet connection. Thus, while they are at school they are eager to use technology in any way they can. They love coming to the lab and using the computers!
My Project
I would love to introduce my students to claymation to create amazing stop-motion videos! Even though I am a Technology teacher, I love to incorporate art when I can. Students love being able to experiment with animation- whether its through coding and/or video editing. With a few more supplies, I could also incorporate claymation into are animation unit.
The students will use their imagination to work in collaborative groups and create their own stop-motion animations.
Each group will write a simple story, build their characters with clay, and draw or build their scenery. They will then be ready to begin shooting their animation using an Ipad and an animation app . This will truly be a great way for students to work together and combine their artistic and technology skills!
Digital art is a great way for students to express themselves! Once completed, students will have the opportunity to share their animations with the rest of the class. The students are always so excited to show off their amazing creations!
