Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are absolutely witty, interesting, and inspirational. Though many of them go through hardships, they do not let that deter them from furthering their education. They are always excited to know what they will be learning the next day. Most students are avid readers and enjoy summarizing what they have read to the class. They are humorous children who enjoy making the days brighter.

My student's work is continuously spotlighted because of the amount of dedication and creativity they put into their projects.

My Project

My students thrive off of project-based learning. These materials will help them set apart their projects from others. They will be reading a book called Hoot, which has many universal themes such as bullying, gentrification, and animal rights. Many of the students do not have access to a computer at home and can not read the online version. My goal is to establish a classroom library for this class and the many more to come.

After reading Hoot, we will create diorama projects which reflect upon the universal theme they relate to the most.

The supplemental materials will allow them to be as creative as they can be, with no material restrictions. These projects can be a scene from the book or a scene from their lives that correlates with the theme.
