This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are challenged daily by the pressures of families in crisis and demanding learning abilities. They need to learn how to be safe and healthy while acquiring grade appropriate academic skills.

My students are underperforming, special-education, first and second graders.

They all have social, emotional, and learning disabilities. Our school is an alternative elementary public day school in urban Massachusetts. My students have been identified as children in crisis, needing individualized education in a small classroom setting.

My Project

These resources will change my students' lives by inspiring them to be healthy, safe, and academically involved. All of the books requested directly relate to the daily conflict in my students' lives. These books will show characters who have successfully solved problems that my students struggle with. The art supplies will make it possible for my students to respond to the stories I read furthering their comprehension and writing opportunities.

Our school does not have the requested supplies available for classroom use.

These materials will lend a big helping hand in my students' academic learning as well as emotional learning. These resources will bring happiness and success to our classroom.
