My Students

It’s no surprise that today’s modern classrooms face some pretty significant challenges. We live in an increasingly complex society that has quickly transpired into a fast paced, technologically-driven world. Teachers are not only challenged to educate a much more diverse student body, but we are inspired to create a unique learning environment that encompasses core values and strengthens the leaders of tomorrow. Many of my students come primarily from middle to low income households; therefore, educational resources are often in short supply.

I am always looking for creative ways to acquire resources that will help me to meet my students' growing needs.

As a teacher, I seek to personally connect with my learners and to help them develop a clear purpose for learning. I love to make learning fun and meaningful so that my students are feeling confident and successful in today's changing world. I want my students to feel safe, secure and valued.

My Project

“Artists are just children who refuse to put down their crayons.” -Al Hirschfeld.

Many would agree that one of the best ways that kids express themselves is through artistic means.

From a very early age activities such as finger-painting, drawing, coloring, building, and writing all have been proven to provide a solid outlet for many of the strong emotions that children deal with in today's changing world. Unfortunately budget cutbacks have forced schools to cut many Creative Art programs. Teachers like myself are constantly trying to find new and innovative ways to integrate more of these fine Arts across the curriculum. Although some may regard art education as a luxury, simple creative activities are some of the most intricate building blocks of a child's development. In this technology driven world, learning to create and appreciate visual aesthetics may be one of the most important skills we can instill in the next generation of children as they grow up. My goal is to create and foster a learning environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.

Having these resources, glue and construction paper, will help my students grow and develop through creative thinking and feeling. In the process of doing art, kids learn self-expression, critical thinking, and problem-solving. They also develop social, emotional and physical skills, such as fine and gross motor skills.
