Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
These materials will help me build a space that is fun and inviting to create meaningful and important relationships with my kids. When we meet, it may be their first time, or it may be their tenth. Either way, kids gravitate towards doing fun and creative things while talking about tough topics, especially when it's been a hard day at home or school. I hope to use these materials such as board games, sensory toys, etc. to help give kids multiple options when entering my office for the first, or tenth, time.
In addition, when meeting in groups, these materials help alleviate some feelings of unfamiliarity with others.
As we grow and learn more about each other during the weeks, we use these materials as rewards, or an opportunity to strengthen our group. In the end, we have a small celebration of our hard work with some good snacks. These snacks will help me give our students a special way to end a group together.
