Help me give my students a gears building set, magnetic marble runs, and other STEM building sets to have the opportunity to be creative while engaging in hands-on projects.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are creative, active, loving, full of questions and inspiring! They absolutely enjoy fun, hands-on activities.
They are active learners who need hands-on activities throughout the day in order to allow them to explore and interact with one another.
Early Childhood Education is the focus of our school. We offer busing services which bring students from all over the city with different backgrounds and challenges. About 75% of my students come from low-income families. Although my students are exposed to different learning strategies and are constantly on the go while learning, they need new hands-on activities every week that allows them to focus and emerge as readers. By having this extra support we will be able to provide them with opportunities to meet their needs. These preschoolers are really an amazing group that fill my day with their smiles, questions and original ideas.
My Project
The use of manipulatives is a daily activity in my classroom, not only in math but also in science and engineering. Allowing my students to be creative and express that creativity through sculptures, structures, and new creations helps them become innovators at their grade level.
My students will develop their fine motor skills through age-appropriate activities such as molding and designing that will promote class discussions to boost their language abilities.
For example, the use of sand molds will allow them not only to contribute to their sensory input but to design, organize and create castles or other structures of which they can feel accomplished and proud of.
