My Students

"Involve me and I learn." by Benjamin Franklin has become our class motto. I teach 50 of the greatest students in Salisbury, North Carolina. They are a busy bunch that loves hands-on science experiments. One of my goals as a teacher is to inspire a love of learning in my students. Children are different and have their own unique style of learning. My learning room is a very busy place and interactive since day one. It is important that the students are a part of the process of their own learning.

While some kids dream of becoming a teacher as they grow up, I didn’t figure out my calling until I was in my 20s.

As a student, I was every teacher’s worst nightmare. I was constantly in trouble and failed 4th, 7th, 8th and 9th grades before being forced out of school at the age of 16. As a teacher, my main goal is to give my students a learning experience radically different from my own – which is exactly what I’m doing today.

My Project

My students need 4 MacBook Air laptops loaded with iBooks Author allows students to create interactive books with galleries, video, interactive diagrams, 3D objects. Students in 21st-century classrooms can create digital and multimedia presentations with graphics and images. Creativity and writing skills are developed by creating movies of their interpretations of historical events and recording audio productions of stories and historical facts. A MacBook Air loaded with iBooks Author allows students to create interactive books with galleries, video, interactive diagrams, 3D objects, mathematical expressions, and more. These books bring content to life in ways the printed page never could. Books created by students for students will enhance learning for all involved. Using iBooks Author, students can publish their work to a worldwide audience with one click of the mouse.
