Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The children in my fourth grade class are taught to see the value of written words and to use writing in their everyday life. They are encouraged to call themselves authors and throughout the school year, they compose and publish many written projects.
Funding this proposal will allow four classroom teachers to help their students create books throughout the school year, bringing teaching resources into four individual classrooms to improve the students' writing skills and develop their craft. With the use of a laminating machine and a book binding machine, the students will be able to see their words and pictures being published into actual books which they can use in their student portfolios or keep and revisit as memories of their childhood. As the students see their work culminate in a book, they will undoubtedly feel a sense of pride and accomplishment in themselves. Their publishing experience will encourage them to continue their development as writers and enhance their educational experience.
Please help 97 wonderful fourth graders achieve their dream of becoming authors. Who knows, in twenty years you may find yourself purchasing one of their published work at your local bookstore.
