Creating World Changers by Teaching About the Impact of Racism
Help me give my students books that will help them learn the role history has played in systemic racism so our conversations and activities can shape a new perspective for them.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our fourth grade scholars come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds, cultures, racial makeup and learning experiences. They are amazing scholars who learn best through hands-on, authentic learning experiences that can be connected to their life.
Our scholars love to learn and love to show what they have learned through authentic, engaging, hands-on learning experiences.
Our scholars represent a variety of cultures and home lives. Some scholars are raised by two parents, some by one parent, some by grandparents, and others by foster parents. Regardless, they all come to school ready and eager to learn more about the world and themselves.
Our fourth grade classrooms strive to meet the diverse learning needs of our 85 scholars through authentic learning experiences grounded in real life stories. As educators, we know when a student can relate to the content they are learning and see themselves in the pictures, situations, and circumstances, they learn more. Our goal is to engage our students through meaningful learning so that our students learn and apply all information they learn.
My Project
I believe it is extremely important to shape the minds of my students by teaching them how to look at our history and determine how we want to move forward. The books selected for this project will help students learn: 1.) how racism was started in the early Americas and 2.) the powerful impact of African Americans on our world.
Students learn how to interact in the world by examining and developing their beliefs about themselves, the world, and how to make an impact on the world.
The books in this project will help my scholars see themselves in the people we study and learn how to positively impact the world around them.
The books in the project will be used to launch research projects that examine the importance of diversity in our world and the positive contributions of Americans from all cultures.
