Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a first-year elementary art teacher, I'm excited to build a classroom where creativity thrives and your artists feel inspired. My students come from a diverse background in a low equity classroom. They bring so much energy and imagination into the room- but we're starting from scratch when it comes to some supplies.
I want my classroom to be a vibrant welcoming and clean space where students can explore different materials, learn about the elements of art, and express themselves freely.
To do this we not only need pencils, paper, and colors, but also storage bins, shelves, books, posters and of course painters aprons. Students should not be afraid to get messy, but I know every parent will appreciate their clothes coming home clean! I also hope to incorporate reading to my daily art lessons as reading is the foundation for learning.
With your support, I can create an engaging art room that encourages, every student to take pride in their work, try new things, and grow as creative thinkers. These supplies will not only support our day-to-day projects but help lay the foundation for a fun, inclusive, and lasting love for the arts.
