My students are amazing. They are constantly coming up with new and innovative ways to create projects. Students work in groups to complete projects and rotate supervisor positions to help manage their individual skills. They use the engineering design process for all of their projects.
My students are eager to explore the world and technologies in the classroom.
In my classroom, my students live by the quote, "Design. Build. Transform." We are always looking for new and innovative ways to explore technology and the world around us.
I teach middle school Technology Education to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. We are a public school. There are approximately 120 students in each grade level. Technology Education classes are required for all grades. We also offer two elective classes for 7th and 8th grade students.
My Project
The students have a filament extruder they use to make their own plastic for the 3D printer out of recycled milk jugs. They will be able to make their own filament for these pens also. The pens will allow students to start creating and designing right away. It will help them understand the technology used in today's society. It will also help younger students with understanding and exploring 3D printing and modeling
This project will help students to explore the design and engineering aspects on a deeper level.
It will also be used as a gateway for students entering TechEd in 6th grade. The best way to introduce students to technology is by basing it on prior interests and knowledge and these 3D pens will help with this integration.
