My students need writing journals, white boards, and writing supplies to help them learn how to write numbers, words, letters, and sentences. Help support young writers!
Creating a room full of writers! My students enter school learning how to hold a pencil and write their name. However, by the time they leave Kindergarten, they will be writing stories. We need white boards, journals, and supplies to help us during our quest of becoming young authors.
My classroom is located in GA.
It consist of approximately 20 Kindergarten students who attend a Title I school. A majority of the students are from low-income families and their experiences are very limited. However, they are fun loving children who are like sponges and eager to learn!
My Project
This project consist of a variety of writing supplies to be used in the classroom throughout the year. The motor skills boards will be used at the beginning of the year to help students learn how to hold a pencil and learn the movement of writing/drawing lines. The magnetic write and wipe boards will be used to learn how to write numbers, letters, and words correctly. The writing paper will be used in the writing center that students will visit each week. The journals will be used during our daily writing lesson. Students will be able to draw and write each day using the journals. The Composition Notebooks will be used as our Daily Math Journals. At the conclusion of each lesson, students will have the opportunity to write about what they learned in Math that day. I believe the use of these materials will help inspire students to write and teach them how to express themselves through words. The supplies will help create a classroom full of inspiring authors and illustrators.
New Kindergarten standards are now in place.
Students are expected to leave Kindergarten being able to produce a narrative, persuasive, and informative piece of writing. So writing is becoming a major focus in my classroom. I need to create a classroom environment where my students are reading and writing throughout the day. I want to get my students excited about writing! I believe that with these materials, I can enhance a student's writing skills and help them meet these standards!
