Creating Visual Art Opportunities in the Elementary Classroom All Year!

Help me give my students markers, canvas boards, scissors, colored pencils, dry erase markers, and other supplies to create monthly visual arts projects as well as implementing daily drawing opportunities for Kagan class builders and team builders.

My Project

I am a teacher at a small Title I school in Eastern Kentucky. We have two classes for each grade level, kindergarten through fifth grade. One of my favorite things about teaching primary is having the opportunity to meet the needs of all learning styles through active engagement and hands-on learning. At this age, my students love to express themselves through art! They are always asking to draw before the school day begins or on rainy days when we can't go outside. It is amazing at how much excitement a new box of markers or a small craft can bring them.

My goal for this school year is to give my students the opportunity for at least one Visual Art project a month where we display our creations and have an online and in person gallery walk!

I also want to give them the opportunity to use art as a way to build communication and to showcase what they know about the academic content that we are learning. I am hoping to give them the chance to draw using their dry erase boards and markers and share out on different discussion topics as part of our Kagan team builders and class builders as a way to develop better communication skills and increase active engagement in the classroom. For this project, I am asking for help in getting my students colored pencils, a colored pencil sharpener, white boards, markers, and erasers. I am also hoping to get the supplies for the entire year for monthly visual art projects which includes ornaments, canvases, and flower pots; as well as the materials needed to create them. I am asking for laminating sheets, magnetic tape, and clear pockets for show cases so that we can have art gallery walks this year as well!
