My Project
I work with students with significant special needs. Most of them do not yet speak and need other ways to express themselves, such as painting and play. The toy people that we currently have do not represent the diversity of families that are in my classroom. My students loved painting on our classroom easel, but we have run out of easel paper. We will use the life-sized baby doll to practice life skills such as dressing and undressing, which many of my students do not yet do independently.
Because my students have significant fine motor delays and require lots of visuals, we have already used hundreds of laminating sheets this year.
We literally could never have enough. We will use the scarves to practice our hand-eye and fine motor coordination. The plastic bins will help us organize the materials so that they children can use them with greater independence.
