My students are second graders at an inner-city public school in Ohio. My class comes to school eager to learn all that they can.
My students are actively engaged in learning all day.
My children need a Chromebook to access educational websites and apps in our second-grade classroom. They come to school excited to learn new things and to actively engage in learning.
All of the children receive free breakfast and lunch. We are a wraparound school that tries to provide for all the needs of our students. We need to provide them with access to technology at school because they don't have it in their homes. I purchase access to high-quality websites and apps for my class. They love to see the amazing things that are offered to them on the web through the classroom computers, our Kindles, Chromebooks, and iPad. We need an additional Chromebook to allow more students access to educational sites on the internet.
My Project
This project will increase the technology in my second-grade classroom which will give my students more access to a variety of learning programs that I purchase, earn through grant awards, or are free to everyone.
This ASUS Chromebook will give the students access to a different tool to broaden their experience with technology.
Students will be able to work alone, or in pairs, on a variety of activities in all subject areas. We currently use RAZ KIDS and EPIC for reading practice, and XTRA Math for math fact practice, Freckle, and Prodigy for all kinds of math practice. They will learn to type using typingclub.com. We will also use a word processing program to create writing for many purposes and audiences.
This ASUS Chromebook will increase student achievement in my classroom and help the students to meet the requirements of our state to pass to third grade. These materials truly can change their lives and impact their futures.
