Help me give my students books! I am a Multilingual Learner (MLL) teacher. My students come from 30 different countries and speak over 20 different languages. I want to help improve their reading with interesting and accessible books!
It is often difficult to find books for MLL students that are both interesting and at an appropriate level. My goal is to fill my classroom library with books that MLL students find accessible as well as enjoyable.
My hope is that by fostering my students’ love for reading, they will grow in their confidence and skills in all areas of their English-language development.
My students will be participating in a weekly book club, where they choose a book to read in their group and host a session at the end of the week. They will aid each other in their understanding of the language, as well as their discussion and critical thinking abilities.
