Creating Scientists

My students need materials that motivate them to continue to explore the areas in science that we work on. Having materials like Bee Bot and the activity cards in the science chest enhance student learning.

My Students

The students who are in my classroom are eager to learn and are creating an image of what school/learning is and should be. Having them all reach out to different ways to learn and different ways to regulate themselves is very important.

They walk in with smiles and excitement glistening in their eyes.

Students are encouraged to work on finding things that work for them and to take charge of their learning. All students deserve these opportunities. I want to give them these chances in my classroom.

My Project

Students will be able to further explore the standards in a free way using these materials. They will move to being independent thinkers to problem solving for the following science standard:Engineering Design Ask questions, make observations, and gather information about a situation people want to change to define a simple problem that can be solved through the development of a new or improved object or tool.

Giving the students these opportunities will help them to be able to become secure in their science thinking.

Students will use these materials at home and after school time. Having a nightly science bag that rotates through the class would help the families to be more involved in the science learning and process.

Students will use these hands on materials to problem solve. An example is "Earthquake" will help them use task cards to guide them to solve how to make stable structures.
