Stop by our classroom in rural SC and you will find boys bouncing on balls, lounging on the floor or curled in a chair. In this special education classroom for students with learning disabilities that are unable to meet the demands of the regular classroom, you will find a sense of comfort and community where students feel at home and ready to learn. This is a small class of little boys who come from a variety of backgrounds, who share the common thread of being labeled.
After spending time discussing and learning about different genres my students are eager for more types of nonfiction. I yearn for my students to be able to sit in our classroom living room and soak up a magazine at their reading level.
My students need a class set (8) of interesting and current magazines including Time for Kids and Weekly Reader. This would give each child their own magazine copy. The subscriptions to these magazines would mean putting authentic materials into the hands of these children. By providing these reading materials we aren't just telling them, we are showing them how to be readers and how being a reader translates into real life.
Your donation will give these students the chance to see something they don't see at home. The chance to see the relevancy of reading and how being informed opens open windows to a new world.

TIME For Kids Magazine- News Scoop Edition w/ TFK Around the World (grades 2-3). Pricing is valid for orders placed after March 2008. After August 15th of current school year, pricing will remain in effect but TIME For Kids reserves the right to prorate issue quantity and free gifts.
