Creating Plate Motion With Play-doh

Help me give my students the ample opportunity to learn about hands-on activities for our Earth Science unit. These supplies and snacks will help me teach students about tectonic plates and how plate boundaries shift.

My Project

Can you imagine waking up around 8:00 am everyday; to eat lunch at 1:31 pm? Unfortunately, many of my students have to wait to eat lunch during their scheduled time. Would you be able to manage that long without a snack? Over fifty percent of my students come from economically disadvantaged families. Many of them can not afford to send their kids to school with a snack everyday. The vast majority of these students rely on getting food from school. Sadly, our school district is not providing these kids with snack.

As a Social Studies and Science teacher, mother, and graduate student; I do not have the financial means to support all these students.

I would be truly grateful for the support from donors choose to provide snacks for my classroom. For Science I would also like to incorporate a hands-on activity with my students. This project requires play-doh and rolling pins. The objective is for the students to learn more about convergent and divergent plate boundaries. This activity should be more engaging for the students and provide them with hands-on experience in the classroom.

With these requested materials I will be able to run my classroom better. By providing my students with the tools they need for success. The snacks and candy are extra incentives to motivate my students to complete their assignments. Which is conducive to our learning environment and positive student morale.
