Creating Our Own Bugs!

My students need insect books, models of bugs, and color dough to create models of insects.

My Students

My first graders come to school full of energy and ready to conquer the world. My job is to keep them motivated and develop critical thinkers. Each child learns differently and part of my job is to find out how to reach them. Some are visual learners, some auditory learners and some learn by hands-on activities. We need to figure out how to reach all learners. My students are sweet and eager to learn. They are motivated and want to be successful students; they just need the opportunity.

My Project

My students will use the books to research and discover facts about insects. They will use the insect learning center to discover even more facts. The models of the insects will help them study the insects in three dimensions. They will use the color dough to create models of the insects they have already studied! Once they have have created their own three-dimensional model of an insect that already exists. They will go one step further, they will use the knowledge to create their own insect. They will use their knowledge of the various insects to create their own breed of insect.
