Help me give my students the outlet to creatively express their emotions by using clay. Clay is a create medium that shows how one can transform and shape their emotions through a mindful lens.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Using art and mindful tools to help support verbal and non-verbal students has been used widely by many service providers to help assist and heal for both young and old. It allows one to be creative and free, and encourages self-expression. Our students here at my school, like many other children around the globe, have been heavily impacted by the trauma of the Covid-19 pandemic. As well, some of our students are migrant children who have traveled through harsh environments for a better life.
ALL students have endured challenges and need support in effectively identifying their emotions.
With the combination of using clay, yoga (movement), and along with social-emotional education; our students will be able to better understand and express their emotions effectively as they mold and transform the clay into various shapes and expressions.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
