This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Despite living in the city's second densest neighborhood, my students come to school with smiles on their faces ready to get down to the business of creating, reading, writing, and problem-solving.

My students are eager to learn and motivated to make the world a better place.

They are truly a special group that work collaboratively and independently to meet their academic and personal goals. As part of a Visual Arts Magnet, my students love discussing art and creating it as well. In our classroom we strive to be well-rounded, caring citizens of the world.

My Project

Our visual arts magnet center is just getting started and we need the right tools to help us create some beautiful pieces of art. We study various artists throughout the year and spend time creating our own art as well. These requested Blick canvases and panels will allow students to create their own masterpieces that they can give as gifts or put on display at our school. Who knows, they may even hang in a museum one day!

My students also need somewhere to collect their artwork.

The Blick portfolios will help them keep track of their work as we learn about the elements and principles of art. It also gives me the opportunity to teach them to reflect on their work and see their growth throughout the year. At the end of the year, they will be able to take their portfolio to the next grade so that they can continue to build and reflect on their work as artists!
