Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Time keeps ticking, and your chance to help students see themselves as the future of science is here. Each and every day I step into my middle school science classroom and celebrate my students. I am passionate about getting my students to see themselves as deserving of the amazing opportunities education can give them. I work every day to provide them with the identity of scientists. My students have incredible resilience. They rise above their socioeconomic status and overcome social injustices. I want to celebrate their hard work in science and spark their dream of being scientists.
When you fund this project, you will be helping me create a moment to remember for all of their hard work in science.
We are requesting animal crackers, burlap table runners, safari animal hats, and various other animal- and nature-themed decor. The students across my middle school choose an animal they wish to study in the annual Animal Draft Day. They then spend outside class time researching and becoming experts on their animal. They write a digital 14-page paper to help them guide their presentations to the elementary students that will visit each of their tables at the end of the year. In addition, students build models of their animals using only natural and recycled materials from around their house or neighborhood. They must design and construct models of their animal making it look as realistic as possible including the internal anatomy.
Please help me create the memorable space to display our students' projects and honor their hard work, creativity, and dedication. Over 400 seventh grade students will participate in this celebration. Help me not only recognize their amazing achievements but also ignite excitement for conservation and protection of the animals of our world. You are helping my students inspire peers and engage the wider community. Ultimately, creating enduring memories to last a lifetime. Please sponsor my science family.
