My Project

My reluctant readers in seventh grade often struggle with finding books they connect with and that they want to read during their daily independent reading time. Graphic novels help reluctant readers engage in and experience the joy of reading. As they read books with characters that look like them and that deal with relatable themes and plots, they start to enjoy reading.

My school does not have a library, and depends on its classroom libraries to engage students to becoming life-long readers and leaders.

My joy comes when reluctant readers get excited to read a book, which often tends to be a graphic novel.
