Pablo Picasso said, "Every child is an artist." It is my job to help children realize this potential, and I love every moment of it.
My students range between Pre-K and 8th grade.
I have the amazing chance to see all the students in the school Pre-K -5th and my middle school students that choose art. Being in a lower income, inner city school my students have never had much of a chance to explore other types of media outside of Crayola colored pencil and white paper. I am hoping to be able to expand their creativity and open them up to new possibilities. They are so excited about coming to art and I want to be able to keep it that way.
My Project
My students need cameras, colored pencils, watercolors, scratchboards, and various other types of fine art supplies. With these materials, I will be able to introduce my students to knew types of media in art. Instead of always doing the same projects year after year, we will be able to experience new things. The children will be forced to get outside their comfort zone and see what they are capable of.
These materials will give them a new look into what they are capable of and hopefully inspire them.
To some of my students, school is the only time they get warm food and a loving environment. To some kids, the art room is where they feel like home. With these supplies, I may be able to make a kids day a little brighter and give them a little more hope to keep them in school.
