This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My kinder students love coming to school everyday and enjoy learning with each other. Student interactions are very important for language building skills, social emotional development and the more opportunities they have interacting with each other will help them understand the importance of respecting each other and their different opinions, leadership and building friendships.

Skill building resources such as magnetic letters, words, storytelling puppets and 10 frames will help my students practice, engage, learn with each other and small groups to make the academic connections they need in Kindergarten.

I will teach my kinders how to choose 2 centers every morning. The centers will be 1) making words with the magnetic letters, 2)putting sentences together using word tiles, 3) retell familiar stories using story puppets and 4) practice addition and subtraction skills using ten frames and magnetic counters. The daily practice of 15 minutes per center will teach them not only the academic skills they need to know but will also give them the opportunity to develop language and social skills with their classmates.
