This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The following resources will be extremely useful when targeting social-emotional understanding and language use. My students will learn about different emotions in a variety of small and large group settings. The requested books will teach students how to recognize and understand the feelings of others. They will practice what they learn through role-play, story retell and use of dialogue. Perspective-taking is a difficult skill, especially for autistic students. These resources focused toward their disability will help improve their understanding and help them be successful in social and academic settings. As they learn to take the perspective of others, they will also be learning how to respond and demonstrate compassion toward others, even when they may not entirely understand what the person is going through. After learning about how peers may feel big feelings, students will learn how to respond to their peers in the classroom, help in times of need and manage their reactions to others. The requested materials teach and provide examples on how importance kindness is and includes interactive problems and activities for the students to apply their learning to helping others. Progress will be monitored in small and large groups by teachers and specialists, focusing on students' interactions in small/whole group participation and structured/unstructured activities. Our school is made up of very inclusive children with big hearts and excitement to learn. I'm excited to see how these resources can impact their day-to-day success at school!
