This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My school is a Title 1, at-risk school, with a population of over 70% English Language Learners.
I have taught kindergarten for two years and am now about to start our kindergarten program at our new Mater Academy location, Mater East!
My students come to school to laugh, learn, be loved and to eat a healthy meal.
We provide 100% free breakfast and lunch for our students. We are working very hard to accomplish our dreams, goals, and most importantly graduating college and becoming successful. Kindergarten is the foundation that prepares kids for the rest of their lives! College graduating class of 2037, here we come!
I have yet to meet my future little readers. Before the year starts, I hope to have my brilliant readers at an at a level that will have them prepared for first grade and beyond. I want them to have a library that they will love when they first walk in! These kiddos are so bright and have the drive to learn like no other. I want to give my students a library that they will love to come to and learn from every day.
My Project
My students will be so excited to not only become stronger readers, but to leave their everyday struggles, stresses, worries, problems, and all the unknowns, and escape into a whole different world as they read. These books will continue to enhance the print-rich classroom that I strive to create.
All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind.
Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.
With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own grade level. They will also be able to choose books that interest them.
The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. A fun-filled library will allow my students to enjoy independent reading. This project will help enrich their experiences with the printed word.
