Creating Heroes

My Students

My scholars are simply amazing. They are funny, smart, energetic, and excited about school!! They work hard every day to learn and achieve. They have developed a classroom culture of supporting each other and working well together in groups and as a whole.

We are a school of poverty, however, they know achievement allows them to create a positive outlook on their future, gives them more self-confidence, and work towards and achieve the personal goals they have set for themselves.

They build each other up and want to be successful not just as individuals, but as a class unit. Each day, they work towards their goals and I want to continue to support their dreams.

My Project

Virtual learning is a challenge for students and teachers during this pandemic. Though we will be away from our school building I want to create a classroom culture that we are Super Heroes. I want to allow my scholars the opportunity to write and express themselves but also know that we are a class community. I want to create class t-shirts for my students to wear during distance learning when we have our class meeting. The shirts will be a "hero" theme in order to build a culture of that we can be a "hero" in our classroom and community and get into "good trouble". We will facilitate conversations about how we can support each other and our community by doing the little things that make a big impact. Also, it will build excitement and be fun for the class to have a class shirt.
