My Students

I am teaching Pre-K in an NYC public school in September and I will have 13 students. Pre-K is the beginning of their school career. It is through play that children learn best. Puzzles are a great way to help my students strengthen their hands, improve logical reasoning and develop spatial awareness. The wood puzzles I am requesting are beautifully colored and will help to prepare my students in a fun hands-on way. I would really appreciate your support in getting these items and helping to make their first school year, one to remember. I want to continue to instill a love of learning, imaginative play and risk-taking that will last each of them a lifetime!

My Project

Pre-K students are so inquisitive. They are full of wonder and have a desire to learn. I am requesting items that will help to encourage this learning. The White and Write Blueprint Mats is an item I am most excited about. This material has a grid that my students can plan their building and edit it before creating. This is similar to the writing process in the older grades. Each student will be able to plan, edit and then build. At times they may have to revise their building, which will teach them that it is okay to make a mistake. They will then fix it until it works. The Blocks and Blueprints Learning Center will provide an opportunity to use logical reasoning and fine motor skills to build what is on the activity mat. The Motion Tubes will be great for my calm down area and in my Science Center.

There will be so many opportunities to foster prediction and expressive language.

When in the calm down center it will be used as a visual to refocus the students and help them to relax. In the Science Center, it will provide an opportunity to introduce science vocabulary. Finally, the STEM Science Station Magnets will help my students problem solve the different situations presented on each activity card. It will provide an opportunity for the students to work together and build persistence until the task is solved. These activities will help my students to be prepared for the future of their education. I would really appreciate your support with this project.
