This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our young women are learning how to become visual professional digital storytellers in today's complex image-driven society. These digital cameras will enable them to apply exactly what they are learning in their photography and digital media classes, as well as provide an outlet for them to enter visual project contests that will impact our school and our community.

What becomes a problem is that much-needed digital cameras, card readers, and photo paper are expensive, making it almost impossible for our low-income students to obtain these tools.

Last year, we started the class with only seven old cameras that were used by the students enrolled in the class. However, this coming year, our roster has doubled in size, making it difficult for students to have access to complete their assignments properly.

Students will be able to create a photo, prioritizing genuine moments that reflect real-life scenarios, valuable emotions, and current events affecting their learning, inspired mainly by the work of photographers they will study in class. With these digial cameras,, twill contributelcontributeg to our school's community ball typesg alltypeses of events as digital photographers, editors, and publishers for our social media, yeother organizationsrgincluding includingke Gardotopia, PTSA, Young Women's and theion, anthe d Yearbook.

The future of photography is bright for those who are willing to embrace technological advancements, diversify their skills, adapt to emerging trends, and focus on creating authentic and impactful visuals, one image at a time.
