Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our students are amazing bilingual learners. They are learning English and Spanish at the same time! For some of our students, they now know more than three different languages.
Many of our students come from different backgrounds and socioeconomic conditions.
We love learning to read and write in both languages. We learn almost all of our math content in Spanish! We need to learn in many different modalities. These kids love learning with hands on activities and being able to bring technology and books back to their homes.
My Project
These current event articles are vibrant and engaging ways for our second graders to learn about events and the world around them. By having access to these types of literature and information, I hope to inspire my students to become engaged citizens in their communities.
They may take the magazines home and share information with their families.
I am hoping to engage, educate, and motivate my second graders to be involved and knowledgeable about the changing world around them. I aspire to instill a sense of belonging as well as responsibility and love for learning through these literacy materials.
