This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach two classes of bright and eager 4th-grade readers at a Title I school in Tempe, AZ! My students come from various backgrounds and often have difficult home lives, but they all have one thing in common: they love to learn. They come to school and work very hard to become better readers and writers in my class!

My students are working on overcoming adversity and bettering themselves in every way, whether that be in personal relationships, reading levels, or being a kinder person.

We are just working on getting them the tools so that they can be successful!

My Project

These stopwatch timers will allow my 4th graders to work together when practicing reading fluency. We would use the stopwatches to time partners and encourage better fluency!

The stopwatch timers will encourage my students to take responsibility for their own reading.

They can evaluate, work to improve, and document their own fluency right at their desks. I know my students would love to have more technology in the classroom, and they would take special care of them!

I would also like to use the timers to evaluate and document my students' reading fluency and be able to provide important feedback to parents.
