This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are imaginative and fun-loving kids. They come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their small community.
My students are creative, clever, and very enthusiastic about learning even in these unprecedented times.
Their pretty funny too!
My Project
My goal is to distribute art supply bags to all of my first grade students. The bags would be filled with art supplies like watercolor paint, oil pastels, color pencils and art journals. The arts are an important part of my students learning and they all should have the opportunity to create it.
With the future being unknown, and the likelihood of starting the new school year virtually, I want to make sure that my incoming students have the materials they need to continue their passion for creating art from home.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
