My Students

I work in a Title I school with some of the most amazing, creative, and hard-working students. More than 60% of my students come from a lower socioeconomic home. Many of my students are ESL, and many more qualify for special education.

I have the best students, and I want to give them the best!

Because of the daily obstacles my students face, some of them find education very challenging. Many come to school without their basic needs being met, so it is hard for them to focus on math, science, or reading. I try to think outside of the box so that my kids are engaged and want to learn.

My Project

I strive to plan learning experiences that help prepare my students for the future by problem solving, collaborating, being creative, and communicating with others. Due to the hardship of Covid and many of my students having to do remote learning, I want to make in-class learning very memorable by providing a lot of hands-on activities. Some students have struggled with learning how to be students in a structured setting and have already spent so much time online. These projects and activities will get them away from the computer, but work on some of those 21st century skills that are needed.

My amazing students would love some additional tools to explore STEM more.

We are seeking more math games and puzzles to help make math more enjoyable and engaging. These math games will help us practice math skills and provide extensions that allow us to "think" more. We are also seeking engineering and science tools to build a Scribblebot. With the motor/battery pack, cups, markers, and sticks, we will create our own robot that can draw/scribble. The canisters will be used to make rockets. The Sphero robots will be used to code and integrate into some of our other subject areas. All of these activities will give us the skills to problem solve, collaborate, and to be creative. We would greatly appreciate your support in helping us achieve our STEM goals! Thank you!!
