My Project
Hello, I have been a teacher for 28 years all at the same Title I school. Our student population is roughly 85% ESL and 100% free breakfast and lunch. I have taught in multiple grades, and for the last seven years I have been teaching third grade. This year in particular, my third graders are facing many challenges both academically and socially. They missed honing in on essential skills that they would have focused on in the last semester of Kindergarten had they not experienced the Covid shutdown.
"Boogie Boards" are reusable writing tablets to increase classroom participation.
Studies have demonstrated a link between student engagement and increased academic achievement. Mandatory Features for WCSD21 Devices include both touch screen and stylus capability. Touch screen functionality has been proven in the way people interact with technology and with their devices . A stylus is essential for students to write as they would with pencil and paper and take notes, but also to draw out diagrams and pictures as part of their normal school work. Boogie Boards don't require Expo markers, erasers or charging, which allows for students to move from one subject or project to another quickly and seamlessly.
My main goal is to use the Boogie Boards to increase student participation. Boogie Boards have an easy to clean surface, a button for quick clearing of work and working without having to replace batteries or plug the items in. Since the Boogie Board does not need Expo markers or specific erasers, they become a timesaver so the students don't have to look for their pens or erasers and they can get to their work quickly. By donating to this project, you will be empowering my students to be excited to become lifelong learners.
