Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These craft projects will make a difference in my students' learning by giving my students something to look forward to each month/season. I feel like we don't give students enough time to create and they never get enough time for art. Students spend so much time glued to their phones they forget how to create with their hands and minds. I hope these supplies will bring joy and creativity back into their lives.

As teachers we are so consumed by Math, Reading and Science that we forget how to help our students grow artistically and creatively.

The supplies in this project will allow students to create projects for both Mothers and Fathers day. Most of the time when we make projects for these holidays they are paper and don't last. I want my students to be able to make projects they can be proud of and feel proud to share with their families.

This year they will be able to create customized jars with flower pens for Mothers Day. They will also get to customize cards for Fathers Day. For Halloween students will be able to create light up lanterns (While each student shares a Halloween story to increase literacy and enjoyment of reading). Students will make Thanksgiving turkey projects while we spend that month focusing on showing respect for one another and reading stories about giving thanks and being thankful. Lastly students will be creating Ornaments for Christmas (while we read stories about spreading cheer and helping those in need.) Students will also be given a water bottles as part of their Christmas presents, because so many times they need drinks and now they wont loose out on Instructional time. They will also have a calm down corner and inspirational folders for SEL.
