Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Many of the students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch based on their low socioeconomic status. Many of my students are ESL and come with limited skills. I have multiple skill levels in every class and all of my students have different learning styles that need to be accounted for.
I designed a curriculum integrating filmmaking to motivate students to be excited about the content they are learning.
Cinematic Arts offers my ESL students an alternative method to experience and understand the content through a kinesthetic project. It also encourages them to be creative and boosts their academic self-confidence when they realize they can be part of a successful academic film. I currently have cameras and tripods, what I need are devices to edit the films they shoot. This is the final piece missing.
This project for iMac computers will offer students a voice to educate others on issues they believe are important.
It teaches students that informing the public can cause change to happen. This will promote civic-minded attitudes in students and will encourage them to take action where they see a need for change. The films will also be entered in a school-wide film festival at the end of the school year for a chance to be screened at a local theater.
