Creating Cozy Reading Nooks and a Diverse Class Library

My Project

Imagine a classroom where first graders can cozy up with a great book in a flexible seating nook that invites them to get lost in stories. My students are eager, curious learners who thrive when given the right tools and spaces to engage with books and practice their reading skills. They come from diverse backgrounds, each bringing their own unique experiences to our classroom community.

Your support will provide a safe and engaging space for my students to read, learn, and grow through the power of books.

The rotating bookshelves will make it easy for students to browse and choose books independently, fostering their love for reading and encouraging self-directed learning. The storage bench with cushions will offer a comfortable place to sit and read while keeping the classroom organized, and the book racks will ensure that favorite books are always within reach.

The goal of this project is to create an inviting reading nook that promotes literacy while also celebrating diversity and inclusivity. By adding books like My Brother Charlie, Brown Is Beautiful, and The Proudest Blue, I aim to provide my students with stories that reflect their identities and teach valuable social-emotional skills. Your support will help make our classroom a place where every student feels valued, seen, and inspired to learn.
