This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Remember when school was fun? You sat on the carpet and played games and you never realized you were learning? Every afternoon, we end our day with a class meeting. This allows students to discuss things we need to work on and things they feel they did well.

I have the best set of 3rd grade students anyone could ask for.

They work hard and try their best. School is the safest place for most of them. I work in a low-income school district where many of my students end the day telling me that they do not want to go home. I would love to add this easel to our classroom community to promote more community learning time. If we were granted this wish, my students would be out of their seats and even more excited to learn. This would give them another place to store our anchor charts and allow us to learn as smaller, more cozy groups.

My Project

Classroom learning occurs best when a student feels as if they are part of a community. Try being 8 years old and sitting still for 8 hours a day. It can be quite a challenge! With a movable white board, our class would be able to get out of our seats and work on the floor. For some students, sitting is not the best way to learn, but our classroom desks are set-up in a way that students can see the board. With this moving easel, I can move around the room and allow students to move with me, creating a sense of community and teamwork.

My students will feel a greater sense of community and get to practice being contributing members of council meetings. This easel is perfect for the average 8 year old to use to run our classroom meetings. We can't wait to see this arrive in our classroom. Thank you!
